.Cent magazine was fortunate enough to speak to the incredibly talented set of LCF Fashion Design and Technology MA students leading up to their womenswear show this Thursday (many thanks to them for taking the time out of their hectic schedule!) Get to know them a little better below. Don’t be surprised if you find yourself falling in love with their designs at first sight – we know we have. YUTONG JIANG 1. Did you have an unusual starting point for this collection? My starting point is naughty girl. A naughty girl never obeys rules; she is crazy, wacky and foxy. Her style is mixed and random; she can wear evening wear when riding a bike, she can wear a fur coat on a tennis court, jeans and T-shirts to parties… She is just having fun. 2. If you could dress anybody, alive or dead, who would it be? I would like to dress Kiko, ...

Past and future came together last night as LCF’s MA Womenswear graduates presented their final collections at the historic Hertford House. While home to the 18th century artworks in The Wallace Collection, even a few Titians and Rembrandts couldn’t overshadow the students’ displays of ingenuity, craftsmanship and originality. Photography: Alex Maguire, Designer: Meng Yu, Hair: ShuUemura Art of Hair, Makeup: Andrew gallimore and the MAC Pro Team The two opening collections, one a fun celebration of girliness, the other a technical display of androgyny, epitomised the key contrasting themes of the show. Yutong Jiang’s line, including a beautiful red jacket and trouser suit, soft pink A-line skirt gathered at the waist and cute cape come bomber jacket, was feminine with attitude. Yutong’s bows, whether ...

Be sure to tune in to tonight’s show which will be live streamed from the LCF Channel at 7.30pm GMT. Image from MA Womenswear graduate Sisi Tang’s final collection. Photographer: Felix Cooper. Stylist: Jeannie Annan-Lewin LCF News: Tell us about your final collection? Sisi Tang: The theme of this collection is curve and volume – playing on concave and convex, and positive and negative. From the very beginning, I was inspired by the egg box that stored in my kitchen. I wondered how the box’s concave curve matched the egg’s conv...

"The college is investing and working hard to showcase all the talent that comes from their different MA lines to the industry.” As their menswear counterparts did just last month (here), this week students from the MA Fashion Design Technology Womenswear course at London College of Fashion will present their graduate collections in an off-schedule precursory to London Fashion Week. Just 12 students will present their work, handpicked by an industry panel that boasts amongst its ranks fashion editor Julia Sarr-Jarmois, magazine editor Holly Fraser, Amanda Hayward of Fenwick and Bloody Gray’s Becc Gray; the show itself will take place at The Wallace Collection, the first time such an event has occurred at the historic London townhouse. Working with the same team responsible for the LC:M showcase, Anders Sølvsten Thomsen has...

The college shows may be the longest but they're so rich in content and ideas, it's utterly worth it. This Thursday, the day before London Fashion Week's official kick-off, 12 students from this year's London College of Fashion's prestigious MA Fashion Design Technology Womenswear course will be sending collections down the catwalk. The students were selected by a panel of key industry figures including i-D’s Julia Sarr-Jamois, Hunger's Holly Fraser, Fenwick's Amandine Hayward, Becc Gray of Bloody Gray. Here's a sneak peek of key pieces from each student's collection, expertly interpreted by a crack shoot team that includes Anders Sølvsten Thomsen and Felix Cooper. Note the international flavour of the students' names: talent is coming from all over the world to learn at the creative hub that is LCF. Can't make it? Don't worry. The ...
